Securing Tomorrow: Cyber Resilience and AI Innovation in European Healthcare

DHAGE group meeting

The Digital Health Advisory Group for Europe has announced the theme for its 7th annual High-Level Meeting at the HIMSS25 Conference in Paris as Securing Tomorrow: Cyber Resilience and AI Innovation in European Healthcare. DHAGE stands as a dynamic platform for thought leadership among Europe's key decision-makers.

Jointly organised by HIMSS, the Finnish Ministry for Social Affairs and Health, and the Shared Services in Ministry of Health, SPMS, Portugal, this forum empowers countries and international organisations to identify synergies and cultivate partnerships in the realm of digital health policies. It provides a platform for addressing complex challenges within digital health, enabling the identification of shared interests and the establishment of alliances focused on essential digital health policies.

DHAGE members, representatives from European Ministries of Health and international organisations have chosen implementation of artificial intelligence and improving cybersecurity as critical topics of discussion due to their profound impact on the near future of healthcare systems.

The 2025 DHAGE High-Level Meeting will have two sessions. The first will focus on the urgent need for robust cybersecurity measures within the healthcare sector. It will address regulatory compliance, real-world cyber threat case studies, and the European action plan to enhance cybersecurity resilience in healthcare settings.  The second session will explore the true real-world implementation and integration of AI in healthcare. It aims to discuss the advancement of innovative technologies, the role of standards and harmonised implementation regulations, as well as the European policy framework to promote the safe and effective use of AI, enhancing European competitiveness in healthcare technology.

DHAGE members will identify practical measures and approaches that enable healthcare systems to adapt to AI and other technological advancements, while safeguarding patient data and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

The 2025 DHAGE High-Level meeting will provide policy insights and recommendations on enhancing cybersecurity resilience in healthcare settings and steps that advance the use of AI to improve healthcare delivery and patient care. The outcomes of the meeting will be presented at a public keynote session on the following day, on the 11th of June.

The DHAGE policy report, to be developed following the meeting, will summarise key policy recommendations and suggestions. By sharing the insights, experiences, and lessons learned from DHAGE members, the group seeks to advance the digital health agenda, paving the way for a healthier, digitally enabled and technologically empowered future for Europe.
