As healthcare systems globally strive to modernize, the path to digital transformation requires a clear roadmap and strategy. At the 2025 HIMSS European Health Conference & Exhibition, the Digital Maturity Roadmaps programming track will take center stage as a guide for health systems at every stage of their digital transformation journey.
This track will shine a spotlight on the HIMSS suite of maturity models, offering a proven framework for healthcare organizations seeking to accelerate innovation and improve patient outcomes through structured and strategic digital advancement.
Registration is currently open for HIMSS25 Europe, held 10-12 June in Paris. This year’s programming will dive deep into how HIMSS digital maturity frameworks, such as, EMRAM, INFRAM, AMAM, and CCMM , are transforming care delivery around the globe. The track will explore not only the models themselves, but also the challenges and roadblocks teams encounter when implementing new transformation strategies.
A key session, Showcasing Digital Excellence, will feature stories from healthcare organizations who have turned their goals into reality through the application of HIMSS maturity models. Attendees will hear firsthand from leaders at King Fahad Medical City in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Calderdale and Huddersfield NHS Foundation Trust in the United Kingdom and the Alto Minho Local Health Unit in Portugal. These inspiring healthcare leaders in digital transformation will share how strategic use of data and digital infrastructure has fueled innovation and enhanced patient outcomes in their institutions.
Another highlight of the track, Thinking Big: The Benefits of Multiple Model Assessments, will spotlight hospitals that have successfully aligned with multiple HIMSS models and achieved the highest levels of digital maturity.
The audience will hear insights directly from two hospitals that have achieved the rare designation of quadruple Stage 7 validations on HIMSS maturity models: King Abdulaziz Medical City and Samsung Medical Center.
Raed al Hazme, CIO of King Abdulaziz Medical City, and Dr. Mira Kang, CMIO of Samsung Medical Center who will share their journeys, challenges and learning curves to the measurable benefits of a multi-model strategy and data-driven approach to transformation. The audience will have a chance here to ask the expert panel questions on how the journey embarked in achieving the highest stages in multiple HIMSS Maturity models.
The programming will also explore digital maturity on a national scale. The session National Assessments: How Did They Do It? will spotlight Germany’s National Digital Maturity Assessment DigitalRadar Krankenhaus with participation from the Federal Ministry of Health and senior representative, Professor Volker Amelung. Helen Thomas from Digital Health and Care Wales will also present the national-level adoption of HIMSS Digital Maturity assessments to guide Wales’s health system and drive meaningful progress
The track will also feature a timely conversation on digital preparedness, led by HIMSS digital health strategist Mariam Shokralla. This session will examine how organizations can assess and measure readiness for the evolving European Health Data Space, ensuring alignment with broader European digital health goals.
The Digital Maturity Roadmaps track at HIMSS25 Europe promises to deliver practical strategies, thought-provoking discussions and tangible examples of transformation in action, supported by the HIMSS maturity model framework.
