HIMSS Leads Campaign Urging Funding for New Jersey Community Colleges

New Jersey’s community colleges play a vital role in preparing the state’s workforce for careers in essential fields like health information technology, digital health and MedTech.

Recognizing their critical role in the future of public health and the economy, HIMSS has launched a letter-writing campaign urging state legislators to provide full funding for New Jersey’s community colleges in the Fiscal Year 2026 budget.

Contact New Jersey legislators to urge full funding for community colleges.

New Jersey’s community colleges serve more than 240,000 students annually and provide affordable, high-quality education in emerging healthcare and technology fields. As workforce demands in health IT are projected to grow by 12% in the coming years, the need for sustained and enhanced investment in these institutions has never been more urgent.

Full funding will ensure that community colleges remain well-positioned to prepare students for in-demand roles to continue being the backbone of New Jersey’s health resilience and innovation.

HIMSS encourages its community members in New Jersey to express their support for this important issue by contacting their state legislators. Legislator engagement is vital to ensuring that New Jersey’s community colleges receive the funding necessary to continue their critical role in shaping the state’s future healthcare workforce.
